I’m Malcolm, I’m a trans man and I’ve been out since 2014 and on hormones since 2015. I’ve been dealing with lifelong dysphoria and unfortunately, the insurance I am under does not cover top surgery. I consider this surgery not only life changing, but life saving. I’m a college student with a part-time job and a double mastectomy would not only improve my mental health, but my physical health as well. My dysphoria affects every aspect of my life—leaving the house, the clothes I wear, the work I do, my mental state. Getting this surgery would mean I can move on from the fears I have, leaving the house, even leaving my own room when not home alone, being misgendered in my daily life for my chest size, etc. Being trans is everything to me and I love my community and the support I’ve gotten from my friends and trans family for so long.
I will be updating this accordingly to any changes & respective acknowledgements. My dysphoria puts my daily life to a standstill to the point where even looking in the mirror and getting dressed every day is a challenge. This surgery would mean I can look forward in life again and see a future for myself where I’m happy. This surgery means less mental pain, less back pain, the ability to move on towards mental and practical independence towards graduating and getting a car. This surgery will liberate me with the body I’ve wanted for so long. Thank you so much.
