Jones Family Death - Madison Day

Donation protected

On Friday, September 9th, 2016, my family suffered a horrific tragedy.  My niece, Madison Day Jones, committed suicide in her family home in Pensacola, FL. She was only 18 years old, a freshman at the University of West Florida with a bright future ahead of her.  She'd recently graduated from Escambia High, Summa Cum Laude, in the top 20 of her class.  She was a talented artist, an avid reader and an all around great kid that could always made me belly laugh and was always up for an adventure.

She was loved.  She was beautiful.

I can't begin to describe the pain that her death has left on this family.  I can't begin to describe how devastated and shocked we all are.  I can't begin to describe how gut wrenching it is to hear her parents wailing; wishing they could just old her one last time.  And I can't begin to imagine what tomorrow looks like without her in it.  This type of loss, this type of pain is simply unbearable and I find myself riding on massive waves of emotional pain, shock, anger, sadness and heartbreak; resting only until reality sets in and then bracing myself for the next set of waves to come through.

I wish I was just writing this note to inform everyone that Madison is no longer with us and to ask everyone to send emotional support and prayers; but the reality is her family was not financially prepared to deal with this and are now faced with unexepected expenses.  They are in need of financial support from all us to get through this difficult time.

I know I'm not the best writer and I am certainly not accustomed to asking for help or money, even when I know it's for a family that truly needs it.   So please realize how critical this financial hardship has affected them and how immediate their needs are.

Those that know my brother, Matt Jones, know that he works off shore, as a boat captain, and would need to leave soon for the next 28 days; which will leave my sister-in-law, Kat Jones, home alone with Madison's brothers, Reese and Mason.   Unfortunately, Matt doesn't get paid when he is not commanding the vessel, no matter what the emergency may be.

In lieu of flowers, were are asking to please donate any amount of money that you can, directly to the family.   We are trying to raise at least $30,000 to pay for funeral costs, lost wages during this time and to pay for their monthy bills that are occuring soon.

Madison is survived by her loving parents, Matt and Kat Jones, her brothers Reese and Mason Jones, half sister, Shelby Medley (Alex), 2 grandmothers, Mary Sears and Patricia Jones, several aunts and uncles, many cousins, and tons of extended family members and adoring friends.

We will miss her.

Thank you in advance,
Becca Jones Lozano
