My daughter, Lauren is an amazing well rounded student and human being.  But she needs help to pay for college!

Lauren just finished her sophomore year at San Diego State in the Weber Honors College.  She carried 18 units each semester and finished the year with a 3.82 GPA (taking lots of physics and calculus classes!).  Her freshman year, she was selected to be a member of Aztec P.R.I.D.E., a program that uses successful students as representatives of the school to high end donors.  She was one of the only freshmen selected for this honor.     At the end of her sophomore year, she was elected President of the school's chapter of Engineers Without Borders.    She was also appointed Social Events Chair in the school's chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success.

Her major is Environmental Engineering with minors in  Honors and Farsi.    In the summer of  2016, she took a trip to Nicaragua with Engineers Without Borders.   They identified and tested water sources as part of preliminary work to build a water treatment and distribution plant for three remote communities.   She came home with a new perspective on how much we take things like electricity and running water for granted in the United States.

In order to continue attending San Diego State, she has worked various jobs over the summer including a job at Time to Explore (working with kids) and various part time jobs such as babysitting and pet sitting.   She also recently accepted an internship with the City of San Diego in the Transportation and Storm Water Department.   But it’s not enough.   We estimate that she needs at least $7,000 a year (even after loans, financial aid and her internship) to cover living expenses and tuition (which means an estimated total of $30K  from her sophomore year through graduation in 2020).   She has taken the maximum amount of student loans and she received some financial aide, but not nearly enough.

Lauren is a very motivated, hard working young woman.   She wants to serve her country and help others – she wants to make a difference.  She will do great things.    Please help her continue her college education!  Every bit helps!  Thank you!
