Archie’s Amputation
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Scout. My partner and I are raising money for our pup Archie’s amputation.
He was injured in a dog attack on January 13, 2023. His front left leg was badly broken. We rushed him to the emergency veterinarian hospital closest to our house where they assured us they set his leg properly and secured it with a splint. According to the veterinarian at the emergency hospital he was stable until we could get him in to see an orthopedic specialist.
The fastest we were able to be seen by the specialist was five days after the initial incident. An office visit that was suppose to be a basic surgical consultation turned into our worst nightmare. When the surgeon removed the splint to view Archie’s leg she was shocked to find the leg no longer had a pulse or blood supply. His leg was necrotic and they could not save it. According to the orthopedic surgeon the splint was not applied correctly by the emergency medical staff and cut off Archie’s circulation. The break in his leg, itself, was a “clean break” and was most likely not the culprit according to the specialist. The splint they originally put on should have been adjusted no more than 48 hours after he was bandaged. We were never informed of this.
This Monday 1/23 at 8am our sweet Archie will have his leg amputated. This was not something we ever imagined could happen to our loving, precious, energetic boy. We are in need of help as his medical bills are financially overwhelming us.
We just want to get our boy healthy and back running around.
