Help For Navy Caroline
On July 22, 2016, our much anticipated daughter, Navy Caroline Dumont, arrived. She was absolutely perfect in our eyes, born at 8:33am via c-section weighing 5lbs 13oz. We were expecting to be discharged on July 24. During the routine tests before discharge, we found out her heart was not working properly. Her oxygen levels were too low. She was transferred from Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, NY to UVM in Burlington, VT. There the cardiologist found her heart was fine, however the vessels leading from her lungs to her heart were misaligned and needed to be fixed immediately. After many hours and attempts to find a pediatric cardiologist surgeon who was available, our little girl was flown to Columbia University Hospital in NYC. We were unable to travel with her and had to drive separately. Upon arrival in NYC, we were told by the cardiologist that depending on the outcome of her sonogram, they would determine if she was strong enough to begin eating. She currently had a feeding tube. They also determined that they could not operate on her yet because she was too small. She has lost weight and is now 5lbs 5oz. The surgeon wants her to weigh almost 7lbs to do the operation. Right now, we are simply waiting to start feeding her to prepare her for surgery. We may be here for a couple of weeks and are sleeping in the waiting room, because we do not have the funds for food and hotel. Please help us so that we can stay with our baby girl as she grows so she can have this operation to save her life. We want her to be able to come home and meet her big sister! Thank you for taking your time to read and learn about our story and our strong girl, Navy. Also, thank you in advance for any donations. Any amount will help.
