SP's MBA - WORKING TOWARD MY GOAL.

This year I made some personal goals.  One of the goals was to apply, get accepted and excel at a great MBA program.  I started looking at programs and schools.  I narrowed down to two schools.  Yet, one was double the cost of other.  I didn't let that distracted me, because I figured you have to get to Step 1 before you get to Step 10.  Thus, focus on Step 1, i.e. apply to the right school.

In the middle of the application process, my family experienced a very breathtaking tragedy when my nephew died. I was blindsided and side tracked.  There was a lot of sadness, financial responsibilities, my family needed me and I/we needed time to adjust.  I decided that I should hold off for a year and apply to a MBA program next year, once everything was more manageable.  Thus, I set aside completing the applications.

About three weeks ago, one of the schools emailed me and stated that I was missing only a few items before they would invite me to interview for the MBA program. The email ignited me, because this school was the one that I am most interested.  I thought maybe I wasn't too late? Maybe I can do the program this year? I quickly started getting the rest of the application requirements completed. I received a call for an interview and interviewed two weeks ago. Last week, I got the acceptance letter from Baruch College Zicklin School of Business! YES!!! (My GoFundMe photo.)

The program starts on July 25th, yikes.  My company supports 17% of the cost, but not the entire cost of the program. Thus, I have to quickly get the funds together.  (I'm at Step 10.) The real surprise to me was the Federal Student Loan process and limited resources for graduate programs. Federal Aid programs do not supports graduate programs the same way as undergraduate degrees, i.e. no subsidized loans, federal aid is limited, and 90% of the scholarships focus on undergraduate or school specific programs.  This was a big shock to me.  I'm pursuing private loans, but debt...Ugh! (But, I will do what I have to do.)

I started thinking what else should I do?  One of my friends said, "Start a Go Fund Me account". At first, I thought it was embarrassing. Yet, when you want something bad enough you will humble yourself to achieve your goals. Thus, here is Get SP's MBA! GoFundMe account.

I started thinking about why me, i.e. why would someone support me? I thought, why not me. Another  goal of mine is to stop letting fear and what people might think get in my way.  I thought; 1) I worked 40 works a week to support myself through my undergraduate degree.  2) I paid my undergraduate student loans in full and didn't default on any student loan. 3) I have worked very hard at my career. 4) I'm responsible and people know that I'm not the kind of person to take advantage of others. 5) I am an active member of the community. 6) I support others. 7) Most importantly, I'm so excited about this opportunity and I REALLY want to start the MBA program this year.

Now, I'm reaching out to my family, friends, colleagues and anyone that will support my goal. I'm a sure thing and absolute guarantee!  I know I will excel at this program. I have been given the opportunity and now all I need is your support.  I hope you support my goal. Thank you!

P.s. ALSO, prayers, forwarding my gofundme info to others you think my support, information on scholarship and/or offering to have play dates with Zia while I'm at school on Saturdays for the next 22 months are all VERY MUCH welcomed and appreciated contributions to my goal.
