Cheyenne's Medical & Funeral Fund

Hi All,

My name is Colton and I am Cheyenne's uncle.

As many of you know, my 12 year old niece Cheyenne has been fighting for her life since February of this year. She was med-flighted from Eugene, Oregon to Portland, Oregon after a week of the Doctors not being able to break her high fever. Once she arrived in Portland, the doctors discovered that this was no flu. They were leaning towards Leukemia. After SEVERAL TEST over the course of weeks & months, she was finally diagnosed with HLH - a life-threatening immunodeficiently and Aplastic anemia - a rare condition in which the body stops producing enough new blood cells.

She immediately started Chemotherapy. Even though they had figured out that she had HLH & Asplastic Anemia, every day something new would happen. Internal bleeding, brain swelling, blood clots,  kidneys shutting down, ect..

We had all of the family tested to see whom was a compatible match for the bone marrow transplant. We did not find one. The hospital found a willing, matching, bone marrow donor! The Chemo treatments had finished at the beginning of June. They immediately started the transplant.

After the transplant was completed, more complications arose. Her brain started to swell and they discovered Blood clots on the brain and had to act immediately to save her life. 7 brain surgery’s in less than 36 hours...

They then discovered that she has spinal meningitis. She has remained in a comma since the procedures.

We have been holding out for a glimmer of hope from the doctors the last few days before writing this, we did not get good news. Per her medical team, Cheyenne is going to lose her battle with her spinal meningitis that has became encephalitis. She has been infected now for over 5 weeks and the aggressive antibiotic regimen is not clearing the bacteria. Her brain tissue is now infected and the damage is significant and irreversible. Cheyenne's doctors are saying that she will have zero chance of "meaningful life" and so the decision has been made to switch her care from an aggressive life saving mode to comfort end of life care.

The money that we are looking to raise will go directly to Cheyenne's medical bills, wake, and funeral. Any additional money will be to help with getting back on their feet. My brother was working 3 jobs at the time of his daughter’s diagnosis to support his 3 children and wife. They live 250 plus miles from the hospital and he was forced to make the decision to quit his job's to be there for his family. My sister in law Karen is fully disabled and is currently going through chemotherapy herself. At the end of last year she also had to go in for open heart surgery. Her health is very poor as well.

I thank each and everyone of you! I am not one to ask for help but I have come to the realization that I can't do everything on my own.

I am a person who "HATES" needles but this experience has been life changing for me as well. Not only did I get my blood type tested, but I also found out that I have one of the rarest blood types out there. AB- I will donate as much blood, to save as many Children & Adults as humanly possible in the memory of Cheyenne!

In the end -

Nobody knows how long Cheyenne will make it once off the machines. Please keep her and her family/friends in your thoughts and prayers today. If you believe in miracles please pray for that!

Cheyenne's spirit, her heart, and her soul are the kind that is not experienced often. She, like her brothers, is so kind and loving. If she does leave us today and God does not give us the miracle we so desire here on Earth, I believe it's because he has important work for her to do in Heaven.
