Lisa Carkin passed on Nov 5th, 2015 from a prolonged battle with cancer. This loss was jarring for me, due to how quickly it happend; but it has been even more so for my cousin, Stacia, who is handling all the arrangements for the events related to Lisa's passing. As many of you surely know, the expenses related to the cremation, funeral and reception can be staggering. With the total easily in the thousands of dollars. In this case the problem has been exacerbated by the swiftness with which things progressed, and ultimately came to an end.
Lisa was not only my aunt, but also my godmother. And regrettably I know personally how hard times like these can be. Both financially and emotionally. Watching my family struggle through this time is difficult, especially without the means to do much in the way of helping myself. This is my attempt to try and assist them as much as I can.
The purpose of this campaign is to help alleviate some of the stress associated with these costs, and with any luck try to make a sad time slightly easier on our family. With how quickly things unfolded, there was very little time to plan or save for the inevitable. With the obituary, cremation costs, hall rental for the reception and other costs looming, money has been quickly depleted. I'm hoping to help raise enough that Stacia and the rest of my family can come through this time without having to expend all of their personal savings to take care of the costs.
All donations will go directly to help pay for the cremation, obituary, hall rental, and other costs related to the proceedings happening this week. With any luck, collectively, we can raise enough to help take some of the stress out of an already terrible situation and help ease the minds of my family during this time. Any and all help is very much appreciated.
If you've made it this far, whether or not you choose to donate, thank you for taking the time to read our story. We're all so thankful to have such supportive friends and family during this time, and you've all been tremendously caring during this time.
