Fighting Cancer with Francis!!!

We have all experienced, or know someone who has experienced a fight against cancer. Some of us have very close family members who have endured the fight. Devastatingly so our friend our brother Francis is 37 years old and married to his high school sweetheart Lily for 18 years. He is an awesome father to two beautiful and rambunctious kids - Olivia 8 and Landon 3 that mean the world to him.  Francis is one of those fathers that we all wish we had when growing up, always there and supportive through it all even when he isn’t feeling well.

 On 4/7/2020 he was diagnosed with stage 4 Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) AKA Liver cancer. After feeling sharp pains, three masses were found in his liver. IV immunotherapy was administered and found ineffective. The treatment was not only not working but two more masses were found which are blocking blood supply to the liver and the original tumors were only getting bigger. There is no option for a transplant nor surgery (unless by the grace of GOD all the tumors shrink), Proton therapy is his last hope to beat this cancer.  The family has been battling the insurance company for weeks for approval for the treatment and FINALLY they are approved parts of the treatment.  Countless visits to MD Anderson in the past few month and because of COVID-19 his wife Lily and kids are not allowed to go in with Francis, so they have to go sit in the Burger King parking all day waiting for him.  Being poked and probed all day at the hospital Francis still finds the strength to go into the office to fulfill his commitments at work every day and make a living for his family.  If you don’t know already what kind of husband, father and friend Francis is you are truly missing out! He knows no strangers and will take the shirt off his back for anyone. He is loved by everyone he comes in contact with especially with that quirky infectious smile even while trying to beat this shit!

Things have progressed extremely quickly and the family has a long journey a head of them. I know many of us feels helpless because there isn’t much we can do to ease their worries or troubles so let’s help them to relieve some of the financial burden on their family!
