This is a request on behalf of my longtime friend Kimmie Affeldt, a vibrant young woman recently diagnosed with a very rare, but treatable form of cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma.
I have known Kimmie since 3rd grade, when we started selling Girl Scouts cookies together. We would raise enough money to go to Camp Lakamaga where we could enjoy snow shoeing, camp fires, and skiing together. Kimmie is such a wonderful kind hearted person that has always put others first before herself. Over the years I have gotten to know her dad (Chris),
and brother (Nathan)
on a personal level and they were so nice to welcome me into their home. One of the best meals I’ve had was as a guest in their home. Spending time with Kimmie and Nathan, whether on a walk to the A&W, or in a silly string party, are some of my fondest memories with Kimmie and her family. Please help Kimmie through this struggle by clicking on the “Donate Now” link below.
Kimmie’s story:
“I finally had to quit my job at “The Bug Company” (http://www.ebugco.com/) on January 28th, because of the pain and exhaustion inflicted by a mass growing on and in my chest. I needed to find out what it was and get it treated. My doctor first sent me to Princeton Hospital for an MRI, a procedure that took over 90 minutes and showed a huge mass between my 1st and 3rd rib growing internally and externally, that was either a massive abscess or a cancerous tumor, and furthermore, was pressing directly on my lung. They then sent me to an oncologist at the University of Minnesota, where multiple biopsies were performed that resulted in the Ewing’s Syndrome diagnosis,” on February 16th. I am now awaiting word on when treatment will begin. Surgery to remove the mass, chemotherapy, and then surgery to repair the damage to my chest will be required.”
“As I am only 22 years old, was forced by the pain to quit working and do not have the insurance to cover all of this work, nor does my family, I am asking you for help through the GOFUNDME program. My close friend of 15 years, McKenzie Clark has offered to sponsor this request.”
We do not yet have a projection on what the surgery and treatment will cost Kimmie out of pocket, but do know it will be significant. Additionally, she has bills that are now past due as a result of her inability to work. I am setting the initial goal for this project to help Kimmie at $10,000. This may be adjusted as we learn more about the pending charges these procedures will entail. The doctors say her chances of a full recovery are good and your help, support, and prayers will be a blessing that significantly aids in her recovery. Kimmie is such a tough person that I know can handle any situation that comes her way. This will be a difficult but winnable fight, and your support added to the great support system of family and friends she already has, we can all help get her through this issue fight.
Thank you, in advance, for your kind and generous support for my very close friend, Kimmie Affeldt. I LOVE YOU KIMMIE!! ❤️❤️❤️
