ED “THE FACE” KORMAN
FEBRUARY 15, 1953 - FEBRUARY 10, 2020
If you’ve had the opportunity to play music with Ed ‘the Face’ Korman, you know he always showed up for a gig fully invested in the project and made each endeavor “better and better”, as he would say.
Whether you call him Face or Ed, you know he has lived his life helping others, being devoted to music, forging strong friendships, and being kind and conscientious to the planet.
A brief illness led to the discovery of metastatic bladder cancer. Two surgeries followed and the trajectory of his life was changed forever. He was unable to work and was in a tremendous amount of pain, but never lost hope for a miracle.
His cancer was aggressive and Ed chose to be cared for in his home. He was grateful for the good and kind people at Dana Farber, Brigham and Women’s, Metro West Hospitals and Kindred Hospice.
Several friends of 20-35 years were blessed to be able to care for him and to assist him on his journey. He was surrounded by immense love, support, and care-giving 24-hours a day.
We feel heartbreaking sadness that Ed said good-bye to this world so soon on Monday, February 10. He died knowing abundant love, loyalty and companionship; surrounded by loved ones, to a backround of bittersweet music provided by his closest musical friends.
The response to this GoFundMe project is a great testament to Face’s impact on all of us, as well as the pure goodness of people’s spirits. We are hopeful that some of the many bills left behind which are not covered by insurance will be taken care of soon to cover settling his estate and personal affairs, as well as paying folks back for monies already spent on medications and related services for Face. A dedicated bank account has been established by Donna Greer (Brotman) for GoFundMe, and checks are currently being written in each instance, and receipts will be documented.
Any funds that do not go directly to settling and paying bills incurred during his brave battle with cancer and death-related costs will be used to create a music scholarship if possible.
We were so very grateful to see all of Face’s friends and supporters at his Life Celebration March 1st, honoring in music the man we so loved. Thank you all for demonstrating the very best of humanity.
