Hi Everyone,
Many of you know or have heard of our beloved nanny, Lili. Lili was the one who found Amirah in her bed the day she stopped breathing. Lili was devastated by Amirah's death and she was deeply impacted by the experience. Because Lili was so close with Khai and Avi, she continued being our nanny even after Amirah died. Khai and Avi think of her as family.
About 2 months ago Lili gave birth to a baby girl, Alana. While in utero the doctors discovered Alana had several serious heart conditions. Lili was placed in a high risk pregnancy category and knew Alana would need at least two major heart surgeries to correct the conditions.
After Alana was born it was discovered that more was going on. After many tests, the doctors figured out that Alana has an extremely rare condition called Smith Lemli Opitz Syndrome. And she has a severe case. Within a relatively short period of time, Alana's veins will close, her organs will shut down, and her heart will fail. There is no treatment or cure. The doctors told Lili and her husband to take Alana home and try to keep her as comfortable as possible. In other words, Lili is now at home watching her beloved daughter grow weaker and weaker, knowing she will soon pass. After what Lili went through with us, this is unthinkable. Nghia and I are devastated for Lili. We have visited her and we got to hold Alana, who is adorable and sweet.
On top of this horrific emotional experience, Lili has medical bills piling up that insurance will not cover. She doesn't know how she is going to pay for her daughter's funeral. Her only health insurance is Charity Care, which isn't great.
If you can, please consider donating a few dollars to help Lili and her husband cover these expenses. Thank you.
