On Friday July 22, 2016 at around 2:00 pm, a fire broke out in the eastern Santa Clarita Valley, where there are many homes, stables, and farms. The fire has since been dubbed the "Sand Fire," having now burned over 20,000 acres and destroyed at least 15 homes.
One of those homes belonged to Drew and Chris Pease - two amazingly kind and animal loving people. On the night of July 22, 2016, Chris rushed home from work fearing the worst. When she arrived, she saw how close the fire was and started to make preparations to evacuate. By early July 23, 2016, the fire seemed to have spared their home when all of a sudden, things took a turn for the worse.
With the fire rapidly approaching their home, Chris did her very best to grab whatever she could but having dogs, horses, sheep, pigs, ducks, and various other animals, she tried tending to her animals first. Chris was barely able to escape with her dogs and a few small items from the house just before the entire home was engulfed in flames and literally everything other than the clothes on her back and dogs was lost.
Still suffering from the shock of losing their beloved animals and home, Chris and her husband Drew are trying to figure out how to rebuild their lives. Any amount of money you can donate will go a very long way in helping them recover from this horrible tragedy. Please also share share share!
