Portilla Disabled Veteran Help Fund

Hi All,

I’m writing with a small request. My grandparents are in need of a walk-in shower for their bathroom. This shower would greatly help my grandfather who cannot easily get in and out of the bathtub that they currently have. The VA is unwilling to help, even though my grandfather is a US Army Veteran and served 10 years in the Armored Tank Division. He had to leave his family at the age of 17 when he came to America from Cuba.

In September 2006, he suffered a severe stroke. Their entire savings was used to pay for the medical bills. Since the stroke, he has difficulty walking and never regained movement in his left arm. This makes it very difficult for him to keep his balance. He has already had a few falls getting in and out of their current shower, which has a 26-inch high tub wall. One of these falls left him with a fractured ankle and shoulder.  

In an effort to prevent him from getting injured again and to make it easier on them, I created this GoFundMe account to get them the walk-in shower they so greatly need.  Any amount would be sincerely appreciated! Thank you and God bless.
