Breast Cancer fund raising for Christina Angel Emily.
My name is Hazel Vialva Lawrence, one of Christina’s many aunts, reaching out to family, friends and friends of friends to participate in a fundraiser on behalf of Angel’s (which many know her as) diagnosis with breast cancer. After serving four of her initial eight-year sign up with the United States Navy, Christina decided to resign to be more present in her son’s life. She came back to Miami, had two jobs and got an apartment with her boyfriend and son then began her life as an independent happy, fun loving adult. A little while back, a lump in her left breast, which she was monitoring, was becoming more painful every day and she was becoming more and more tired, short of breath and loosing days from work. The lump was also growing in size. After many tests were done, the doctors told her she had stage three, triple negative (very aggressive) breast cancer, which had spread, to one of her lymph nodes already.
Christina comes from a background of women whom either died from breast cancer, or are still battling this dreadful disease. Her mother, Pamela Emily was diagnosed at an early stage, was treated and is still alive and doing well. Pam’s mother was not so lucky and died at an early age of 42, where she lost her battle with Mets breast cancer. Her grandmother and two aunts were also victims. Pam’s sister, 46 year old Lisa Gonzales-Morrison also Christina’s Aunt who resides in Canada is still currently battling her second round of stage three-breast cancer.
Christina’s Oncologist told her she would die if she didn’t start chemotherapy right away so on March 2016, Dr. Krill at Mt. Sinai Hospital started her on 6 months of weekly chemotherapy having to surgically place a permanent IV access port. Christina, being strong willed thought she would be able to continue working throughout chemo, but the side effects proved her wrong. By her third treatment, she had already lost all her hair and nails on all her fingers and toes. Some days she is unable to leave her bed. Her independent living soon disappeared. Her financial responsibilities, co-pays for medications, weekly hospital visits and her needs to care for her son were placed on all her credit cards. Some financial help also came from family and friends, hence the decision for her to move back with her son to her parent’s home Michael (also known as Thompson) and Pam.
Her treatment plan has several stages, chemotherapy, surgery removing both breasts, radiation, more chemotherapy and several reconstructive surgeries that will render her unable to physically and financially take care of herself and her son. After thoughtful consideration and Christina’s approval, we decided to seek help via Gofundme and this is where we are, especially since we’ve been approached several times as to if and where donations can be sent to her. We understand not everyone can help financially, but sharing this page would help. Also, anyone can donate what ever he/she can, no matter how small it is. Your Prayers for Christina and family are greatly appreciated. Together, we can help Christina on her journey to becoming a healthy mom again and to see her son grow up without her having to worry about a financial burden. We’re never prepared for life’s unexpected curveballs, but with faith and prayers all things are possible. May God Bless you and your family and thanking you in advance.
