Preserve the old Lakeside Hospital
Donation protected

We need your help to preserve the old Lakeside Hospital located in DeFuniak Springs Florida. The roof at this point is our biggest priority, as it has several large leaks. This building served the medical needs of DeFuniak Springs and the surrounding areas from 1938 til it closed in 1972. It served as the first certified hospital in Walton County. Many locals were born in this facility during its operation as a hospital. The building today belongs to the Florida Chautauqua Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit which orchestrates the annual Florida Chautauqua Assembly. The building currently houses our office and growing collection of historic items tied to the history of the Florida Chautauqua, DeFuniak Springs, as well as the hospitals history. We are working to make repairs to the building so we can open it for public use in the many open spaces throughout the building, as well as building a permament museum and history research area to house the artifacts and history. Help us save this piece of local history and return it to a building the community can use and be proud of. 100% of the funds raised through this campaign will go directly to the repairs made to the building.
