A wheelchair van to transport Adeline
Donation protected
The time has come that Adeline needs a wheelchair van. Adeline has no head control and can’t sit on her own or walk. She uses a wheelchair. Her wheelchair is very heavy and difficult to put in the car. A car seat also doesn’t provide good support for her. Adeline needs a wheelchair van so she can go out with proper support, positioning and safety. Unfortunately, wheelchair vans are very expensive (as much as a small house!) and Florida offers very little assistance.
Adeline is a sweet adorable little girl. Adeline has Aicardi syndrome and adrenal insufficiency. Aicardi syndrome is a very rare syndrome that affects only girls (and 1 boy with an extra X chromosome). It causes brain abnormalities and difficult to control seizures and other medical issues. Adeline is blind, has severe scoliosis, GI issues, pulmonary issues, multiple endocrine issues and more. Despite having had 2 brain surgeries and needing spinal surgery she keeps on smiling.
Adeline lives with her mom, who stays home to care for her, her dad, a 20 year veteran of Polk County fire department, and her little brother. David and Katie have always called Adeline their little pineapple and her brother now calls her “Lady Pineapple “
