On July 10, 2016, Sean Ybarra, (my daughters father) was in the passenger seat of my car when he grabbed the wheel and got off on the Colfax exit from I-25. I put the car in park and told him to get his things and get out. He told me to switch him seats so he could drive which wasn't going to happen. He then grabbed the keys out of the ignition and got out of the car. I locked the doors but wasn't able to keep him out as he had the keys. Once he went to get back in the car, I went to get out but the next thing I knew, Sean used a 3inch long 1inch wide pocket knife to stab me in the throat. At first I thought he just punched me but Right away I knew something was wrong so I got out and while holding my throat I felt wetness. I then realized I was bleeding.....a lot. So I sat down on the side of the road. Sean then came up behind me, grabbed me by my hair and dragged me back to the car where he threw me into the passenger seat. By this time, several people started to get out of their car to help so I managed to get out of the car while Sean was distracted and got into the first car I noticed. Sean then drove off with my car which had all of my belongings in it. I was rushed to Denver Health where I had to undergo surgery. I was in the hospital for a week. In the meanwhile, Sean drove my car to Greeley where he left my car abandoned and hid the keys. On the 13th, Sean was arrested after he went to his probation meeting asking for bus tokens and is be charged with attempted murder and first degree assault. There is a permanent restraining order in place and he hasn't been sentenced yet. However the nightmare continues as my car was impounded and seeing that I hadn't regestered, insured, or tagged it yet, it's going to cost about $300 to do all that. In addition to that, the tow bill is now $700 and climbing higher each day. I have been doing everything in my power to utilize as many companies that I can, (victims assistance, human services, family tree, etc) to get help and I'm getting limited help as the bill climbs. This is hard enough for me to cope with not to mention the stress of having no car, clothes, phone, or a single item I had to my name. My brother Kyler, his fiancé Shannon, my aunt Lorrie, and my friend Mark have provided a lot of support but I need to branch out and ask for more help. Anything at all is beyond appreciated!
