Coach Tim's Olympic Rio Fund

Did you know?

Did you know that our Olympic Athletes and their Coaches not only have to dedicate their lives to the sports they are the BEST in the World at, but also have to fund their own way to be on the Big Platform, The Olympics?

That’s right, our United States Olympians and their Coaches are not just given a free ride to the Games. They could receive some support from each individual Sports Governing Board, but it is not enough to cover all of the expenses these individuals incur.

Most Olympians, like our own Sarah Robles, work a part-time, or even full-time job on top of training in order to make it as an Olympic Athlete. And for the Coaches, Like Tim Swords, because his passion is to see ALL of his lifters be successful, he doesn’t make his money from training remarkable athletes like Sarah. So having to fund their trip to Rio this year is hard.

And it is should not be a surprise to anyone that it is hard for these Athletes and Coaches to ask someone to fund their dream. But I am not to humble to ask for your support.

Coach Tim Swords is a man that has given more than 30 years of his life to training and helping under-privileged kids make something of themselves. Because of his knowledge and ability to truly train his weightlifters, he has seen his time rewarded by the number of his lifters going on to become College Athletes, National Weightlifting Champions and of course Coaching Olympic Athletes.

This year he needs to be there for Sarah, As she stated at the Olympic Trials,

"There's no one else I'd rather have on my side on a day like this: A life-changing one!"

“It's difficult to articulate how I felt after all the trials after trials, failures and victories, to be held up by one as great and kind as my coach.”

Can you help us get Coach Tim to Rio? Coach was just informed of the news that he had to come up with these funds so we are on a short time frame, but I cannot imagine him not being in Rio with Sarah. Any contribution, $1, $5, $10, is worth more than just the dollar amount contributed. It is a tribute to a wonderful Coach who dedicates his ALL to his athletes. Every donation is Tax Deductible as Team Houston Weightlifting is a Non Profit Organization.
