Cynthia's Road to recovery!

I am reaching out in time of family need. This is my beautiful cousin Cynthia. She is the glue to our family, the one who brings everyone together. Every holiday, birthday, bbq you name it she's hosting! She is the mother of Desiree, a beautiful young lady. Cynthia is kind and compassionate and always has a warm smile on her face that makes you want to be around her.
Over the summer Cynthia and her mother went on vacation to Mexico, she was so excited for this trip, it was all she talked about! On day two of their trip Cynthia suffered a medical emergency that landed her in the hospital. The doctors gave us the news that she had a brain tumor. This is something that our family has never experienced before. We were devastated not to mention we couldn’t be by her side being that she was in another country. Not knowing the outcome of her grave situation, praying is all we could do. The thought of losing the person who brings our family together was unbearable.

One long week passed and we began to hear better news. She was stable. A relief came over us, a sign of hope! Still being cared for in Mexico the questions started. Will she be ok? Will she get through this? Will she need to live a different lifestyle? Will she be the same? These are the questions we are still asking ourselves. The most Important question was how would we get her back to the US? With everything her family had they worked on getting her back to the states and they did. They were able to get her transferred to Jackson Memorial in Florida. There they continued to run tests and care for her. Still so far away you can imagine the feeling of separation. A few more weeks pass and she slowly starts showing great signs of improvement. She is talking, breathing on her own and making motions with her hands! God is great! After a few test doctors came back and told us that there was never a tumor. What Cynthia actually experienced was a blood clot in her brain which led her to have a stroke. We went from one scary situation to another.

After one month in the hospital in Florida she has finally been transferred back to California but she will still need surgery and will be staying at a therapy facility where she will continue to get the help she needs. We are not out of the woods yet but we are hopeful and we are holding on to our faith that she will overcome this. Cynthia is strong, she is a fighter and she will get through this season in her life!

We have started this Go Fund Me account to ease the financial burden on Cynthia and her family. Over the next day, weeks and months ahead they will have countless doctor’s appointments, surgery and hospital stays. As you can imagine the normal cost of everyday living...such as rent, food, gas, car etc. not to mention medical costs. This will allow her family to help Cynthia get through this difficult situation and put her on a road to recovery.

From the bottom of our hearts we humbly ask for your donation. Every little bit counts and any amount will help. We kindly ask that you share this link with your friends and family and if possible in giving.

We thank you for your support,
Cynthia’s Family
