Hey everyone! My name is MaKayla and I’m in need of a service dog. For those of you that don’t know, I’m currently diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, and I’m awaiting my final diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). All of this is just a way of saying that I continually pass out, have severe fatigue, and some pretty bad brain fog. I’ve been lucky enough to catch some of my fainting episodes and sit down before I go down unwillingly, but as you can imagine doing things like driving is almost out of the question since I can’t catch all of my faints before they happen. I’ve been really lucky to have the opportunity to adopt a dog that will be trained for my symptoms. I’ve consulted with a company called American K-9 who are going to work with me and the dog. The only barrier I’m facing is the sheer cost of this. Due to my symptoms becoming much worse, I’ve had to cut my work hours drastically. The overall cost of the training and vet trips for the dog is over $12,000, but with my savings I’m able to cover some of it. I feel terrible having to ask for help, but unfortunately this is something that is necessary to improve my quality of life. Any help that anyone can provide would mean the absolute world to me.
