Family & friends the DeBerrys need our help. As many of you know and some who might not my best friend and her husband Sarah and Alex DeBerry just welcomed their first born son Alex Jr. Most know how expensive medical expenses can be and these two need our help in raising money to help pay for the medical expenses that have come with little Alex and what he and both of his parents have had to endure within the very first week of his life.

People who know Sarah & Alex have either heard some sort of story or haven't heard anything at all. Here's what really happened to this sweet little family and you'll know exactly why they really need our help!

On July 13 Sarah was having pain, she noticed that her belly was rock hard and called her doctors office. While waiting for the call back her pain had increased, Sarah and Alex decided to just go to the hosptial. As soon as Sarah got to southwest the staff hooked her up to a monitor that listen to the babys heartbeat and his heartbeat was faint. The doctor then decided that an emergency c-section needed to happen because little Alex's heartbeat was fainting fast. The staff and Doctor didn't let thier emotions show at how serve the situation really was. As for Alex knowing the severity of the situation had to be strong but didn't know if he'd leave without either one of them. Sarah's placenta had ruptured and caused the baby to go under extreme stress. When baby Alex was delivered he had no heartbeat or pulse, the staff were able to revive him after what seemed like an eternity. There was no cry no sound from her baby at all, all she could do was hear what the doctors were saying around her. Worried sick she looked to her husband for answers and at that moment he had to be the strongest he's ever been for his wife to let her know everything will be ok when that's what he is hoping for as well.

Sarah had hemorrhage and lost a lot of blood. As for her son he was fighting for his life, he was unable to breath from inhaling not only fluid but blood as well. UH rainbow babies were then called and dispatched to southwest. There greatest concern was getting the baby breathing normal again and hoping there was no brain damage due to the lack of oxygen. The team from UH were able to intubate little Alex so he could have a fighting chance. They brought baby to mom before being transported but because of the surgery she wasn't even able to see what her son looked like, all she could do was touch his foot before he was gone.

From that point little Alex was on his way to get the help he desperately needed. As for mom she wasn't able to leave until Thursday afternoon because she lost to much blood and needed blood transfusions. Sarah transported to UH to finally meet her baby, when she got there he no longer needed the intubation tube and was breathing room air. Unfortunately he had to be put on a cooling blanket for 72 hours to slow any brain damage if there was any. He was also hooked up to ECG to monitor his brainwaves. For the first two days of his stay he had a tube feed inserted in his belly button. Sarah not being able to see her son was finally able to meet him but she could only look at him and rub him. Little Alex couldn't be held for 3 days, couldnt eat for 3 days, she couldn't even change his diaper. Worried sick for their child and the future they stuck side by side leaning on each other for support.

After the 3rd day Sarah and Alex were able to finally hold their son and to finally feed him!! Little by little he was starting to learn to eat. The next day he had an MRI to make sure there was no brain damage. At this point all vitals were normal, brain waves were normal, and results looked promising. With this little guy fighting to get back to health and get home little Alex was finally moved to a step down unit!while watching their son get a little better each day they were slammed with the insurance being completely out of network and now face a hefty medical bill. This little family has been in the hospital 8 days now and are hoping for a discharge date in the near future but at this point only time will tell. If Sarah had waited any more time neither one of them would be here right now.

Sarah and Alex are the most selfless people I know and would do anything and everything they could to help a family memeber or friend in need. They've wanted this baby boy for a long time and to almost loose him and go through the what if's is, the continuous testing, the blood work and having to be In the hospital is heart breaking. So now you see why these two could use all the help they could get. If the tables were reversed they'd do the same for you. Please donate what you can to this little family that has been dealt a tragedy turned into a miracle.
