Funeral & Memorial

Hello Family & Friends,

Our beloved mother, Va Yang who was born 9/15/1949 has left us to be with our father, Nao Chao Thao and the Lord on 07/01/2021.  Our mother has struggled with COPD most of her life but she has fought hard and won many battles against her sickness until late last year after she lost her husband, Nao Chao Thao to Covid 19, she became broken-hearted which caused her health to deteriorate.  Since then she has not been the same.

Although our mother suffered for many years, you would never know because she never complained nor does she want to burden others with her illness.  She would rather suffer and assure everyone she was okay.

Our mother was a loving, kind, selfless, humble, and generous woman who would give all that she had to help another person in need.

Our mother, Va Yang enjoys being surrounded by her families every weekend at the park to watch her husband, adult children and grandchildren play volleyball.

Our mother was truly a child of God.  She loved God and her church families at True Life Church.  She would go out of her way to serve God, church families and others because she knows God is the only way to everlasting life.  John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life.  The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”

Our mother, Va Yang was loved by everyone who knew her especially her families, friends, and church community.

Our mother, Va Yang was married to her loving husband, Nao Chao Thao for 58 years.  He too has left to be with the the Lord in 2020.  Va Yang is survived by her 8 adult children, daughter - Paa Thao, son - Ze Thao, daughter- Kaying Thao, daughter- Mai Chou Thao, son - Thai Thao, daughter- Yer Thao, daughter- Zoua Thao, son - Da Thao, and 51 grandchildren.

Our families are devastated that we lost our hero who is our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother but we understand that God needed her more than we do here on earth therefore, he has called her to heaven.

For now, we say good bye mom, grandma and great grandma.  We know you are in heaven with our dad and no longer in pain.  Until we meet again… we love you always mom…

We kindly ask for those that would like to contribute or donate towards our mother’s celebration of life and final expenses or would like to say a prayer for our family, we thank you in advance.  May God bless you abundantly.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with Pastor Vang Vang officiating.
