Shonna has been a treasured member of the Coit Hedgcoxe Animal Hospital team for 13 years.  On the afternoon of Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Shonna collapsed while at work.  Her work family, paramedics, and the hospital all provided CPR, and were able to get her heart beating again.  Unfortunately, the time without adequate oxygen to her brain resulted in brain death.  

In life, Shonna was a loving and giving person.  She was always buying trinkets for friends' children, attended every event that was important to someone else, and loved people and pets.  

In death, Shonna is continuing to give - she is donating organs and tissues so that other lives may be saved. Shonna was her father's primary care giver, and he has no access to any of her funds, 401k, etc.  They will be tied up for some time until a death certificate is released and probate completed.   Meanwhile, we have to take care of Shonna and make sure her father's basic needs are met.
