Help send Amanda to Gressier, Haiti!

Donation protected

I have been blessed with the opportunity to live and work in Gressier, Haiti teaching English in the kindergarten classroom beginning August 2013. Help send me and spread the goodness of God through sharing this page with your friends! I am anticipating recieving a partial grant covering about half my living expenses. Although the grant will be a HUGE blessing I don't want this story of God's glory to go untold, so our desire was to share with you about what God is doing! That's where you come in! It is a joy and privlage to be able to ask you to come along side to provide, pray for, and encourage me in this mission! I'd encourage you to pray about if you are able to donate to the mission God is sending me on, Glory be to God!

I would love to share with you just a glipse of what God has done in my life;

I was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida to a loving family. I met the Lord in 2009 when I surrendered my life to Christ, it was a growing surrender that took lots of baby steps in which he guided me. That year, I graduated High School and moved to Fort Myers where I didn't know a soul, but I was confident in the fact that God placed me there. Quickly he surrounded me with a healthy body of believers and I grew rapidly. I was baptized in April of 2010. That summer I worked at a Christian summer camp for inner city kids. This is where the Lord captivated my heart for youth to know Christ! I felt lead by the Lord to change my major to child development. God rapidly changed plans and in 2011 I was Lead to change my major again; this time to sociology. I was confused initially why he wanted me to change plans he had clearly called me to, but I trusted he had a plan. It wasn't until 2012 where I saw how God pieced together my life and created purpose from my rubble. He first led me to raise awareness about Human Trafficking and I planned an awareness and prayer event on my campus doing just that. That was just the tip of the iceberg, because shortly after we wrapped up the event was when God called me to Haiti. In his small still voice I can still remember how clear he put Haiti in my heart. I was humbled, scared, and excited all at once. Summer of 2012 was the best summer of my life; it was also the most challenging. Every ounce of hard work, sweat, and tears were worth it to see the Lord's hands at work. It was there that I finally put that final puzzle piece in place about what the Lord was calling me to. My love of children soon bubbled up while I was there as well as a strong will for social justice overflowed. I could begin to see how he might use me. This is only the beginning of the story and I am blessed to confidently say he has called me back to Haiti for his purposes though his power and goodness. Praise the Lord for taking my life and making it his.

I feel it necessary to also share a personal story in order to give understanding about why exactly I am the person he was calling for this position. I was very ill when I was 8 with meningitis the doctors determined that because of the high fever temperatures for such a long period of time this changed the way my brain saw or understood words and letters. Because of this illness I constantly struggled with English needing extra help. God continued to have grace over my circumstance and by high school I was enrolled in honors English courses. I never once allowed it to hold me back. This struggle with English has allowed me to appreciate the use and necessity of it, even if it's hard. Initially as I was told about this position my heart sank and I thought because of my past and insecurity with knowing the English language meant I couldn't possibly be called to this. The Lord quickly stirred my heart and allowed me to be filled with his confidence that it is not I who will be teaching, but only though him. Because I know that I can never do it on my own I must constantly ask for his guidance, peace, and direction. The grasp of his will for my life seemed so much larger when I looked at it from his perspective and I began to understand his will. Broken, knowing I can't do it without my God leading me I feel a perfect Godly confidence that his calling in my life for this year is to go to Gressier to teach English. Praise the Lord continually for his sovereign will ruling over my life even before I even understood any of it.

The following is what I feel lead to do when God so soverignly sends me to Gressier, Haiti in August 2013;

I would like to teach English in all the kindergarten classrooms. I would love to walk alongside the Haitian staff and immerse English into daily plans for the opportunity of one day allowing English to open up work opportunities and a future for these children. I also see myself planning and facilitating some type of art program for the children in the community. I see myself capturing stories, progress, or anything media related for the use of Respiret through my photography. I would love an opportunity to lead in discipleship feeding programs with the opportunity to teach the word of life to children. I would also find great joy in leading American teams in effective VBS preparation and leadership.From organizing the team's donation supplies to helping teams conceptualize what putting on a VBS in Haiti looks like.

I am overjoyed to be seeking out God's will for my life and so thankful that he is going to build a team of supporters to pray, provide, and advise. Any amount will help! Thank you in advance!
