Our dear friend & cousin, Elijah Sokoloff, was in a nearly fatal accident.
While spending the afternoon at Silver Falls State Park with his brother in law, cousins & uncle, Elijah had a rappelling accident. It all happened so fast and it is impossible to know exactly what caused him to lose control while rappelling, but what we do know is that only by the grace of God did he survive.
Courtesy of an incredible rescue team & his fast-acting family, Elijah was transported first by gurney, then ATV, then ambulance, and finally life flight to the hospital where he has now been in ICU for 10 days & nights.
While he does have cracked ribs, fractures to his pelvic & shoulder blade, the biggest concern has and continues to be the trauma to his head. But God is good and Elijah has been healing each day. Days 8 & 9 have proven to be the greatest progress of all with more alertness & communication from him.
At this point it is still hard to know the full extent of his head injury, or how difficult the road to recovery will be. The doctors are really encouraging, and expect Elijah will fully recover. We are very hopeful as well, and continually pray for Elijah’s wellbeing.
Elijah has his wife & 2 children, ages 5 & 20 months by his side, is self-employed, the sole provider for their family and his health insurance is limited to his wife & children.
It’s anyone's guess how much a day in the ICU costs, let alone the life flight, ambulance transport and all the additional medical expenses that his future entails.
We ask first for prayers and support for the Sokoloff family.
Additionally, this loving & kind family of 4 is in need of financial aid to help them not only with the medical bills, but the day to day & future expenses that come with a husband & father being hospitalized and the healing process that follows.
Beth and Sandy Slevcove (Elijah's sister in law & mother in law) will be accepting money on behalf of the Sokoloff family so they can focus on Elijah's health and recovery. All donations will exclusively go to Elijah's medical expenses and emergency living expenses.

He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick. The Lord will raise him up.
1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
