Hi, my name is Keisha Stringfellow I am a 40 year young Teacher, Coach, Sister, Daughter, Friend, Wife, MOTHER , BELIEVER and soon to be breast Cancer Survivor.
I am from Jackson, MS and learned the day before my birthday (9/1/2020) I had Invasive Carcinoma of the left breast.
I was filled with so many emotions when I found out but the Thing the nurses kept saying was that YOU HAVE TO FIGHT. So I had to prepaI am currently undergoing chemotherapy and I have completed 4 of the 8 planned sessions. Once my chemo is complete I will have a double mastectomy and hopefully live happily ever after, right?! Well at least leave this earth from something other than cancer.
I am halfway through my chemo treatments but I am ALL OUT of money for this situation. I feel overwhelmed, irritated, sick and distressed on chemo days because I know how much will be involved in this day. Minus the actual treatment I will have this whole song and dance with the lady at Check Out about payment and when I’ll be able to make one. I have insurance and also Supplemental Insurance but not cancer coverage. So whatever my insurance does not cover I am on the hook for. I have had a overnight stay in the hospital. I have had a PET and CT scan. I have had an Echocardiogram and also have had a Chemo port placed. After every treatment I have a Neulasta device placed to boost my Immune system. Everything I have named above are very expensive and my Insurance does not cover the full costs of these tests. Then there are the 8 chemo treatments and the double mastectomy rounded out with brea
I am starting this page on behalf of not just me but Brendan(15), Brady(10), Paisley(4), and Bella(2.5). They have all been impacted by this dreadful disease. I would like to be able to not work during this situation but my finances won’t allow for me to do that. Although I have cancer basically life goes on, which means rent will still be due, lights, wifi, food, gas, and heat/air will still be vital.. Any blessings that I receive will go towards doctor bills, medication, gas and any other expense related to this situation.
I really hope that my story has touched the life of some other woman. I would like to raise awareness of this disease and the importance of having breast exams. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE 40. GO NOW! Anything that is given to me I am forever grateful for. Your blessing will allow a family to continue to thrive in the face of something so terrible. It will give a family the opportunity to fight without the burden of financial stress or trying to decide whether to buy food/gas or medicine. It will also give a family the opportunity to have something to look forward to after this disease has been eradicated.
I thank you for taking an opportunity to read my story. I wish you nothing but BLESSINGS!!
