As many know in March 2020 Ryleigh was diagnosed with a Wilms tumor which resulted in the removal of her right kidney and an extended stay at the hospital with multiple surgeries in addition to the removal. Following this Ryleigh went through 25 weeks of chemotherapy. In August 2020 Ryleigh had her port and GJ tube removed and she’s been doing amazing since. She’s completed the 1st grade and a lot of her hair has grown back. I would say besides going to her follow up appointments she has been back to a completely normal life.
Up until her 9 month follow up when that quickly changed. Another mass was found on her liver. Ryleigh recently had a liver biopsy that determined the mass was malignant and consistent with Wilms. Ryleigh had her port put back in and has started treatment. This round of chemotherapy looks different than last time in many ways. It will require her to be admitted to the hospital every 3 weeks for a week at a time, 2 weeks of radiation therapy, and at some point surgery again. It’s a more extensive type of chemotherapy treatment. Again, Ryleigh will not be able to attend school and will miss her 2nd grade year in person. She will be on chemo for about 40 weeks and the doctors will monitor the mass until it’s safe to go in and remove.
We have both decided to continue working throughout the course of her treatment depending on how Ryleigh does. With that being said there will be many days we won’t be at work due to weekly treatment and extended hospital stays. We are reaching out asking for your help if you are able. All money raised will go directly to the care of Ryleigh, travels to the hospital & treatments, medical bills, lodging, etc.
Anyone who knows Ryleigh knows just how much she loves & enjoys life, God, her family & friends, and school. She’s always does whatever she can to make someone else smile. She is one of the most selfless people in the world always thinking of others first. This little girl is a fighter and will fight no matter what and make the best of it. We still have some bracelets left and may order more if we need to.
We are grateful for any help we may get but most of all prayers for our sweet Ryleigh. You can also follow Ryleigh’s Journey on Facebook
