In November 2015, I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. December 22, I had a total thyroidectomy and neck dissection. They removed my thryoid, 37 lymph nodes (9 were cancer). During surgery they found cancer surrounding the muscle that moves the vocal chord. They removed the nerve, thus impairing my voice.
Since my surgery, I have been forced to resign from my job in sales, as I cannot drive and cannot speak loud enough to perform the functions.
In March, I had radioactive treatment, which has in turn created a whole new set of problems, including salivary gland infections, teeth problems and others. I will need more treatments and more surgery this year.
My medical bills have topped $300,000 and mounting. I have applied for disability and been placed on medical hold four times now, the latest lasting until September 1st. We had about 6 months of savings when I left my job, that is now exhausted. I'm a Mom, a wife and a 39 year woman. The money would solely be used to pay my medical bills and provide housing and food for my loving and dear family.
