Hello!

My name is Jen and I’m proud to say I was a close friend of the incomparable Murphy Mason.

Murphy was a running machine, marathons, ultramarathons, those darn crescent heights stairs!

In 2022, Murphy was robbed of that ability when she developed necrotising fasciitis. One of her goals was to somehow be able to retake up the pastime she had loved so much.

Heartbreakingly, Murphy passed away on June 3rd of this year, leaving those goals unattained.

So complex grief is a weird thing, and in my sorrow I made the decision to run for her.

I’m starting with an official 8k in Vancouver in May, with the ultimate goal to run a full marathon by 2027 (woah mama).

I will be doing fundraising for another charitable cause that Murphy supported (Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society) but first I’m fundraising to get me to Vancouver to do my first ever race!

Funds will be for race fee, flights and one night of a hotel. ($600)

Anything over the $600 mark will be donated to the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society!

Any help to get me to my first race in Murphy’s honor is appreciated! Please share with your loved ones!
