Mike Soda Memorial
Donation protected
Our dear friend, Michael Soda, passed away early in the morning on June 25th after a very sudden health issue caused him to lose his leg.
Mike was an icon at Madison High School and in northeast Portland. He was a proud supporter of Madison baseball and eventually Clackamas athletics after Jeff Erdman became the athletic director there. Soda could often be found watching high school sports or helping with game management, or even sleeping on coach Bushman’s couch the night before the state championship game.
Soda was an expert in TriMet bus routes and schedules, Madison athletics 1970s-2000, guessing your weight, memorizing bench press maxes of everyone and many other useless random facts.
It wasn’t uncommon to randomly run into Soda somewhere or get a random phone call from him and have him ask you to buy him a Diet Coke, give him a ride somewhere or if you had $7 so he could get his prescription.
Soda will be missed my many. His sister and her family are facing the unexpected costs associated with his passing. Please contribute if you’re able. The money collected will help them honor Mike in the community he cares so much about.
I challenge each of you to add $7 to whatever you’re able to donate so Mike can “get his prescription”
RIP Soda!
