For Jack

Jack Veasey...poet, singer, and the love of my life for nearly 38 years, died suddenly on Friday, July 15.  To say that he touched many lives positively would be an understatement.  Many people in central Pennsylvania who now write and love poetry learned at least part of their craft from Jack, both Jack as poet and Jack as teacher.  As a singer, he was a marvel to hear.  He used to call Barbara Cook "a song's best friend."  Anyone who heard him sing would say the same about him.

We discussed our final wishes several times.  Do Not Resuscitate, cremation, no memorial service.  Please be sure to talk about final arrangements with your spouse.  It made the impossible -- letting Jack go -- just a bit easier knowing that.  And the cremation will happen.

When I returned from the hospital, a notice was taped to the front door saying that the house was unfit for human habitation.  I knew that would happen (our house makes the hoarder on TV look like amateurs), but it was not what I wanted to see having watched my love die just a few hours before.  I need to rent a street side Dumpster.

Can you find it in your hearts to help me meet his final expenses?  Please?  I attach a video "For Good" from "Wicked," one of those songs that always touched both of us deeply and expresses, I hope, how we all feel about that special someone.  I'm sorry if it seems maudlin.
Know, please, that I am greatly in your debt, and I thank you for any support you can give.
