Help Randy Fagley get a new liver.
Two years ago my husband, Randy, got a tick bite that infected him with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. This illness began a devastating decline in his health. All of a sudden my hard working boat captain was fighting septic shock and in the hospital for over two months. This really took a toll on his whole body. I still can’t believe the doctors were able to get it under control but now we face a new challenge from it, the need for a liver transplant.
This August he will be able to get a chance for one by being placed on the Liver Transplant List at Duke Hospital in Durham, NC, five hours away from our home in Frisco, NC. If we are able to get a transplant our lives will change rapidly as I will need to get him there and stay by his side the following six weeks.
If you live here on the island you may have seen Randy out walking each day, preparing for this surgery by staying as fit as possible. But, I need to prepare in different ways. I will need to miss at least six weeks of work or more. While we do have insurance there are extensive medication and Doctor visit costs that are not covered. If we can’t prove that we can handle these medication expenses, Randy can’t have the transplant surgery.
Please help us give Randy this chance by donating if you are able.
