Welcome to our fundraising page for the Wheelie Wheelie Big Ride where 3 friends with a combined age of 170 years will be tackling cycling from Lands End to John O Groats from the 24th June 2021,for charity, planning to complete the journey in 12 days.
ABOUT US:
Maddy Moffett having been a competitive horse rider all her life never really looked to cycling due to a lack of time, until using it as a means of travel during lockdown. Maddy's cycling has grown from there, with the support of Jo and Cris, progressing from being a nervous novice to taking on this epic challenge.
Joanne Bednall is also a competitive horse rider, as well as a GB age group Triathlete and renowned fell runner. Jo's lack of competitions during lockdown allowed time to start increasing cycling mileage, along with mentoring and helping Maddy, and led to setting a new challenge.
Cris Milton has been an Elite Triathlete and turned to horse riding in later life. She is the linchpin of the three being in charge of logistics, nutrition, motivation, recovery and the chief camper van driver!
Three stubborn women stuck in close proximity for two weeks....what can possibly go wrong?!?!
Each of us is hoping to raise money for our chosen charities - Air Ambulance, Lupus UK and World Horse Welfare.
In October 2016 Jo had a horse riding accident where she broke her neck, requiring the services of the fabulous Air Ambulance, without whom she wouldn't be cycling today. As a result of this Jo would like to raise money for this fabulous charity to help show her gratitude.
Maddy's sister was diagnosed with Lupus after years of not knowing what was wrong with her, and so Maddy is raising money for Lupus UK to try and raise awareness and help research for this relatively unknown illness.
Cris is raising money for World Horse Welfare after her experience of rescuing her first horse, as well as listening to stories from her friend who is a field officer for World Horse Welfare.
This challenge is massively out of all our comfort zones so we will need all the support we can get, and raising money for great causes will be the BEST motivator!!!
