Doug Sutton Medical/Living Expenses

Donation protected

While I've gladly contributed to GoFund Me campaigns in the past, I never thought that I'd be the one starting a campaign.  Many of you know Doug from High School, and probably know that he has always had a strong sense of responsibility, and a work ethic rivaled by few.  He has worked for UPS since college (thus the brown Go Fund Me Theme color)--almost 30 years.  He started as a sorter/loader, then worked his way up to driver, then got his CDL and did over the road (overnight) trips delivering semi trailers of packages between centers.

On April 22, 2015, his life changed forever.  He blacked out at the wheel (cause unknown) and rolled his UPS truck (google Quincy news, or go to www.wgem.com).  Thankfully, the Good Lord was watching over him that day, and he had a guardian angel in the form of a co-driver, who pulled him, unconcious, from the fiery wreckage.  Although he survived with "minor" injuries and was released from the hospital the next day (a few broken ribs and 2 broken vertebrae in his neck), he has been unable to work since then.  A few weeks later, he was on his way to a physical therapy appointment, and he blacked out again, totaling his truck.  I guess God is not ready for Doug, as he spared his life again.

He was on worker's comp (% of his pay) until May of this year, when the doctors "cleared" him of his back injury, stating that he is "as well as he will ever be."  However, Doug has suffered from seizures ever since the accident.  He will NEVER be able to drive a semi truck (and possibly not even a car) again.  He is, and has been, ready, willing, and able to perform non-driving jobs since being cleared, but there are no openings.  Worker's comp has stopped, since he was "cleared to return to work."  Most recently though, another doctor has refused to allow him to work in the vicinity of conveyer belts, for fear that he will have a seizure and be injured (or worse) in a conveyor belt accident.  In short, he and his family have NO income, no job prospects, a pile of bills, and are about to be evicted.  He's sold and/or pawned nearly all of his wordly possessions just to try to get by.  Through it all, he has remained positive, and constantly reminds me that God will see them through this.

When I was a toddler, Doug took on an unexpected role and became a stand in father, as our dad died tragically in a plane crash.  Although I disliked him in that role (hated it, to be truthful), I'm eternally grateful that he was there for us and that he took on that added responsibility.  He would kill me if he knew that I was setting up this fund for him, as he is a very proud man.  So am I, but I don't know what else to do for Doug, and believe that he deserves so much better than what "brown" has done for him.

Every little bit helps....I just ask that you contribute whatever amount that you can in order to help a man who would give a stranger the shirt off his back--just like my dad.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
