Prayer warriors we covet your prayers right now. Bria broke out in a rash a few weeks ago and we were unsure of what it was. Our pedi referred us to a dermatologist who performed a biopsy and blood work. The results finally came back in today and showed that Bria had an elevated WBC count and monocyte cells in her skin biopsy. Both of these things can be indicative of leukemia. We are currently waiting for a call from a doctor at CHOA, but the tentative plan is for us to take her to CHOA on Wednesday for additional testing and to be put to sleep for a bone marrow biopsy. This will give us a definitive diagnosis. Please please pray for our sweet baby girl. Our hearts are breaking right now and we are scared of the unknown. I keep trying to stay positive and tell myself that she is too healthy to have anything serious, especially leukemia.
Bria's blood work came back and did contain abnormal cells indicative of leukemia but we still don't know what kind. She will have a bone marrow biopsy and another skin biopsy in the morning. We should know what type of leukemia by Friday and then we will set up a treatment plan. Chemo will start either over the weekend or Monday. We will also be getting some form of long term IV access and possibly a lumbar puncture to determine if leukemia is also present in the cerebrospinal fluid. Bc Bria is so young, they will want to keep her inpatient and monitor her closely for side effects so our stay in the hospital could be up to a month with each round. Please continue to pray for our family as this has truly devastated us. I'm crying out to Jesus to heal our baby girl!
