Valerie Ann Grotefend
Valerie Ann Grotefend passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Stonemere Rehabilitation Center. She was in the loving presence of her daughter.
Valerie was born in Los Angeles, California, February 24, 1954. She was the daughter of Hortencia Cortinas and Florentino Gonzales. She will continue her legacy through her daughter Ashley Dinc and granddaughter Aylin Dinc. She is survived by her brothers Perry and Phillip Harper.
Valerie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 in which she went into remission until 2012 when the cancer metastasized to her bones. This last year has been the hardest battle with multiple complications. She has spent all these years fighting with grace, courage, strength, and optimism. She was continuously supported by her family and friends who loved her unconditionally.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, she loved singing Karaoke, was an advocate for animals, and supported multiple cancer organizations. Valerie was always there for everyone; her support will be irreplaceable. She was considerate, compassionate, and caring. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am – 1:00pm, Friday, June 25, 2021, at Merit Memorial located at 12801 N. Stemmons Fwy. #803, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. Burial will be held at 1:30pm- 2:00pm located at Rolling Oaks Memorial, 400 Freeport Pkwy, Coppell, TX 75019.
