UPDATE 5/8/23 - 3 weeks have passed since the car accident that forever changed our lives. Lileana is making progress and has been released from the hospital. She’s at a skilled nursing rehabilitation facility in Vancouver for physical therapy. She will be there for a couple weeks before going to stay with her dad and his fiancé as she recuperates. Zey continues to be cared for by family until Lily can resume full time care of him. She is working hard to heal physically and emotionally from this terrible life changing accident.

UPDATE 4/19/23 - After a long day of surgeries, Lily is now resting and her condition has been deemed stable. We want to thank everyone for all of the support, kind words, prayers, and generous donations. We know there is still a long way to go, but all of the support has helped our families see a light at the end of this dark tunnel.

Our granddaughter Lileana (Lily) and her son Zey have just recently suffered extreme hardship. On the evening of Saturday, April 15, Lily was riding in a car with her beloved partner, Caleb, on their way home from visiting some friends. It was during this ride that their lives changed forever, as Caleb hit a patch of gravel on the road and completely lost control of the car, sending them crashing into a tree. Unfortunately, Caleb did not survive, while Lily was ejected from the car and impaled on a fence post.

She is currently in Trauma ICU, having sustained a broken pelvis and femur, along with a fractured skull and brain bleeding. Thankfully, their son Zey was not in the car with them when this happened. He will be staying with their immediate family until Lily is released from the hospital.

It is unknown so far how the recovery process will work, or how long it will take - but given the injuries sustained, we are expecting it to be a long journey of surgeries and physical therapy before Lily is able to return home. We will continue to update the page as we learn more.

It goes without saying that this will be an extremely difficult time for Lily, not only in her recovery but also in grieving the loss of her significant other Caleb. They were well on their way to living a happy life with their son, with Lily pursuing a degree in biology, and Caleb becoming more successful in his endeavors with electronic music and event promotion. They were only just getting started, and within an instant, their whole lives have been turned upside down.

During the foreseeable future, Lily will have no income available to her. It is our goal with this GoFundMe page to raise enough for her to live on while she recovers and tries to return to a normal life with her son. We understand that times are tough for everyone right now, but any support would be welcome and greatly appreciated.
