Smokey the Velvet Hippo Needs A New Knee

Hello KindHearted Animal Friends!

Some of you may know we've been fostering Smokey since her family moved to Florida in April and left her behind. (Thank you to everyone who shared her pictures.) 

Since then, she's been learning to peacefully coexist with the cats, which has been going well! 

But sadly, she had a serious crash while playing in the house, and needs a steel plate in her back knee, ASAP. 

So, obviously, we're keeping her forever, and hoping very much the surgery ends up on the lower side of the estimate ($7000) rather than the high side (almost $9000). We would be most grateful for any contribution to her surgery fund.
