Burial costs for Carol Reynolds

On July 14 2016 Carol Reynolds (Laura Reynold's mother) had emergency bypass surgery on her heart. The doctor repaired a congenital hole in her heart as well as repairing 2 valves. The surgery was a long day for all of us and it was almost ten hours before we were able to see her. She was struggling for air then and struggling for air the next day also. On Saturday we went to see her and she seemed to be recovering. We left the hospital around 7; but just as we got back to her house we received a phone call from the hospital to come back. Unfortunately she had lost her battle for air and she passed away an hour and a half later, devastating us all. I have gone through Carol's papers and bills and have not found any insurance for burial, but found a much more sobering situation. The house Carol and Laura shared for more than 35 years is being foreclosed on due to a tax lien... to the tune of about $3400. Add that to the cost of a modest cremation ($3100) and the loss of income from Carol's social security, Laura is looking at a very grim future. Laura lives only on her art income and that fluctuates wildly. We are looking to try and take care of Carol's remains first, then pay the tax lien on the home . Any help from Carol's and Laura's many friends would be a blessing. We need to raise the money for the cremation quickly... please consider any small help. If anyone wants to loan the monies to me I will personally guarantee repayment. Carol was my close friend and deserves a dignified exit from this world and I will do whatever I can do to make this happen.
