If you think the story in the picture is sad you are so right. My name is Margot Meiklejohn, I have a story and its my reality of what my family could look like. 
I am asking for help, any help whether you have a dollar to spare or change to spare please help us. 
Our story began in 2009. My beautiful 32 year old daughter always had a bleeding disorder. They called it an ITP disorder because no one had a better name and no one knew what it could really become. The truth was that it was a very serious blood disorder that could evolve into a blood cancer and it did. They called this blood cancer AML and it moved fast. So fast that in a little over a years time, my beautiful daughter was on full life support and we lost her in the ICU of RUH in the summer of 2010. It was the most brutal truth I ever had in my life. I took my grandchildren for 6 and a half years. I fought a 3 and a half year legal battle with the father of these children because I promised my daughter he would never harm them again. There were many challanges. 
Over the last 6 and a half years, we discovered that 3 out of the 4 children that I call mine now have a missing runX1 gene. This means they have a very serious platelet disorder that could turn into leukemia. They have been followed by the bleeding disorders program in Saskatoon since their mothers death. We have been in Winnipeg for special chromosome testing and everyone figured out that there would be a plan should any of the children develop leukemia. 
At present my kids are in care at my request. I went through a very bitter divorce last year and I lost my dad, I couldnt cope with the stress. I never took this decision lightly but sometimes in life you break and you have to stop.Our relationship remained strong but different.
Many new directives were found,all sort of genetic testing done and reasons why I had 2 children challanged, 3 of which had the blood disorder, 2 of which had heart problems. I think I realized at that point that the childrens medical challanges were bigger than I was able to handle alone but it did not change the fact that we all loved each other so we recreated our family .
On Monday, I got the phonecall, My 15 year old boy has AML also now. At present he is in the hospital waitting for Chemo to put him into remission and then we will travel to Winnipeg or Calgary so he can have a stem cell transplant. The problem is I cant work full time to support myself and give my child full support in the hospital. He has to come first. I have to ask for help and I am begging people to come forward and care. 
The picture here is I have lost my daughter, its very real I could lose my son,grandson and I have 3 more children who may develop cancer because of these blood disorders. 
The money would be used to carry my home through this hard time. I still have to keep up with my bills and financial committments. We will have a 3 month stay in Winnipeg or Calgary when he has his stem cell transplant and that will be expensive, The length of time I should be off work is a year. It is a very difficult solution to ask  for help but I need alot of help right now. 
This means alot to me. Not everyone can say they could lose their entire family to cancer but I have all the medical reports and genetic testing. Im not sure how many times your heart can break before you cant put it back together again but Im on run two and I can barely feel anymore.
I love my kids more than anything in this world if you can please support our family. It would mean the world to us. The kids need me right now and if I have to Im prepared to lose everything to keep them above water.
