Sephira's open heart surgery

Please help me bless this family during this trying time in their lives!

My name is Melody, and I have known the Smith family for 6 years now! They are such a loving, fun and wonderful family and are very dear to my heart. Jeff and Felicia have recently been informed that their 3 year old daughter, Sephira, is going to need open heart surgery very soon.

While Felicia was pregnant with Sephira, she had to be monitored very closely as she was diagnosed with IUGR which is a condition where the baby does not grow at the normal rate inside the womb. The doctors also noticed that Sephira had a slightly enlarged heart with a hole in it. Sephira was born weighing only 4 pounds 11 ounces, but has been a fighter since birth! She has been monitored every year, by her cardiologist, since she was born, to see if the hole in her heart would improve. Sephira just had her 3rd birthday in July and had her annual check-up. The cardiologist told Jeff and Felicia that Sephira's condition is not improving and that she is going to need open heart surgery. Sephira's diagnosis is Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) which is a hole in the wall that separates the top two chambers of the heart. She also has Cor Triatriatum Dextrum which is an extra membrane that is dividing the right atrium and causing pulmonary edema. Basically, Sephira's condition is causing her heart to work too hard and become enlarged. If this were to continue, it would lead to heart failure.

Sephira's surgery is scheduled for August 22nd at Randall Childrens Hospital, where the surgeons will repair the hole in her heart and remove the membrane that is obstructing her pulmonary artery. The surgery will last 3-4 hours and she will be on a heart bi-pass machine during surgery. Jeff and Felicia will be donating the additional blood Sephira will need during the surgery. She will then be recovering in the hospital for about a week and then at home for two additional weeks.

Felicia is a stay-at-home mom who works hard to take care of her two daughters, Sephira and Avery. Jeff works full time to support his family, but is going to need to take a few weeks off of work during this time. This family needs our prayers and support, but I am also hoping to raise funds for them to ease the financial hardship they are entering. The money raised will help off-set Jeff's missed wages, pay for gas back and forth to the hospital, meals, and all the medical bills.

Thank you in advance for your help! By taking the financial stress away, it will allow Jeff and Felicia to focus on spending quality time with their daughter while she is going through this major surgery and recovery process!
