Hello everyone, on Wednesday June 9,2021 we received a horrible and completely devastating visit from SDPD Homicide letting us know that our beloved Kenneth Banks was found dead inside a hotel room. Although the investigation is still ongoing & will continue, thankfully an arrest has been made. During pride month Kenneth was murdered by a person he loved and trusted, after being abused and manipulated by him for months & 4 days after his birthday.
After our Nana, who was the matriarch of the family passed in November of last year, Kenneth finally ventured out to live on his own. Kenneth was a wonderful grandson who helped with the care of both grandparents before their passing but Kenneth was especially close to Nana. Although, Kenneth was extremely sad he was also excited about starting his new life and finally living on his own. Unfortunately, this time would come to an end with Kenneth’s tragic death, at the hands of the person he thought loved him. In the 6 months since Nana’s passing Kenneth grew more distant from family as the situation he was in grew more toxic and family voiced their concerns. Although, we had an idea that Kenneth was in a bad relationship, he was always reassuring that he was doing well, had his own place, job and was taking care of himself. But little did we know this person was hurting Kenneth mentally and physically which is why Kenneth was not coming around as much. To find out that Kenneth was murdered is heartbreaking and devastated our family as Kenneth was always so innocent, loving, caring, and laughed at everything. Kenneth was a blessing to our family and was an amazing person, son, brother, uncle, & cousin.
It is devastating to think of our loving family member being stuck in a beyond toxic situation with a man who abused him, isolated him from the family & took advantage of him. It hurts all of our hearts that we couldn’t be there for him & that he has to pass away in pain & alone. If you knew Kenneth you know he was never the person to have one inch of negativity inside of him, just the sweetest, most loving person ever & for this to happen to him hurts more than anything.
In the days since Kenneth passed, we have been working with victims of crime organization that will help with some of the expenses. However, we are still short as this was completely unexpected and tragic we were in no way prepared. The money raised so far will go directly to the funeral cost and service. The portion we are asking for help with will cover his burial site & his tombstone. Because he was murdered & everything happened so fast we as a family aren’t prepared for this mentally, physically, & financially. He worked for his job 10 years & never missed a day, until his killer made him quit after the abuse got worse. He lost everything in six months including his life because of this horrible person who took advantage of Kenneth’s innocence and naivety and then preyed on his sweet and easy-going nature. We appreciate any help or assistance, and especially your prayers.
