For those of you who know my mom, you know that she is one of most kind-hearted and loving souls that you will ever meet. On July 16, 2016, my mom was faced with an unimaginable loss; she lost the love of her life, her husband Howard.
While on vacation in Wildwood- Howard had difficulty getting out of the car. After calling an ambulance and being taken to the hospital, he was found to have a hip fracture. He went in for surgery right away but little did my mom know that this would be the start of a long medical journey and he would never be the same. Howard had major complications, he was unable to come out of anesthesia, his platelet levels were dropping and his ammonia and bilirubin levels were rising- his liver was failing. He underwent multiple surgeries, blood transfusions, and alternative treatment options but my mom refused to give up. She was told multiple times that he wouldn’t make it but made sure that he was given every possible chance. Howard fought his battle for almost 2 months; he was seen by multiple doctors at 3 different hospitals and a sub-acute unit until finally surrendering to complications of liver disease on July 16, 2016.
My mom had to pay for her mother’s funeral not too long and was not prepared to have to pay for another one so soon. She has not received a paycheck for almost a month in order to be with her sick husband, she will no longer receive his social security, and Howard did not have a life insurance policy. We are asking for your help.
