On the afternoon of April 3rd, my coworker and friend, Shannon, received an alert on her Ring that was triggered by a loud explosion. Upon checking, she noticed a fire near her backyard, which she immediately reported to her local fire department. Within minutes the fire started to grow, so she left the office only to find her home, and many others, engulfed in flames.
The fire spread too quickly to control and as a result, she lost her home and everything in it. Her 3 cats were in the house when the incident occurred and sadly did not survive. Thankfully, Shannon and her husband were unharmed but in a matter of minutes, they lost everything they owned and were only left with the clothes on their backs.
Our office has pulled together to collect funds and basic needs such as toiletries. We are working on getting shoes and clothing for them as well. We wanted to start this GoFundMe to help alleviate their financial burden as Shannon and her husband rebuild their life/home.
