Hello friends and family.
It is with a heavy heart I’m sharing that Matthew has been diagnosed with cancer once again.
This amazing man has already fought a giant battle with brain cancer, medulloblastoma, 20 years ago. Matty celebrated his 21st birthday in the hospital after having received surgery to excise the tumor and was followed immediately with radiation treatment 5 days a week for 6 weeks by a 4 hour round trip. These trips were difficult with many stops made on the way back so Matt could be sick on the side of the road. Matt bears the permanent scars and discomfort having had so much supportive tissue removed at the base of his skull.
Matt has always said this experience brought him closer to God and changed his overall outlook on life. To never take a day for granted, do good to others and always keep God first.
Now, 20 years down the road brings another blow from a different kind of cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma. This cancer developed from a papilloma tumor in Matt’s sinus cavities. Matthew has been misdiagnosed twice over the past year which has allowed the cancer cells not only to grown but to spread. Now Matthew is facing an intense fight for his life as he prepares to undergo an extremely long and invasive surgery with the plan to undergo more radiation or possibly chemotherapy following after. This surgery will permanently change Matthew’s facial appearance as well as his sense of taste and smell.
The ENT oncology surgeon has prepared Matt for losing half his nose and his left eye.
This will obviously come with psychological distress not to mention the loss of certain opportunities and independence.
My hubby is THE MOST wonderful, kindest, sweetest, positive, peaceful, most uplifting, warmest, loving, giving, just overall GOOD man that does his best to help others and spread God’s love.
I couldn’t have dreamt up a better man to call my husband and best friend.
His name, after all, means gift from God. And that’s what he is.
I am beyond proud.
Before we realized how serious Matt’s condition was we excitedly purchased our first house.
Medical bills and missed work are already taking a financial toll on top of the stress of traveling for diagnostic tests, treatments, and surgeries.
We humbly ask for any donations to support this wonderful man while he continues to battle squamous cell carcinoma.
We will continue to praise God through these difficult times and hope Matt’s story can be a testimony to Gods mercy and healing. We ask for prayers for God to grant us grace and peace to accept whatever His will is.
I also wanted to throw out there that I made $30,000 a tentative goal, however, we will need as much as possible with all the existing and upcoming bills along with the expenses of traveling for treatments and surgeries.
We will be editing the goal as we get closer to the one in place.
Thank you for any and every donation, thought, and prayer.
