On Friday, July 8th, Patti Hovey took a courageous and motivated step toward her future and underwent bariatric surgery. The surgery was a sucess and recovery looked as though it would be easy peasy. Unfourtunately, only two hours after she was released on the Saturday, she was rushed by ambulance back to the ER.

A nauseated reaction to her pain medication had her vomitting frequently - something that is not at all advised with a stitched together digestive tract. Patti was readmitted to hospital and pain and nausea medications looked to have her on the way back to recovery.

Until Monday, when the surgical team at the Civic hospital had to rush her back into surgery. Her bowel had perforated and the contents had spilled into her abdomen. Very scary and potentially deadly. She spent three days in the ICU - one of which completely sedated and intubated in case the surgical team needed to go back in to fight any infection from the bowel contents. 

My name is Meghan. I'm a very close friend of Patti's. Over the years, she has unselfishly given me her time, her love, and frequently fed me and gifted me with presents without ever expecting anything in return. I know she has also given her time and love freely to many of her other friends and family. She is a very special lady, and I wanted to raise funds for her recovery. She is unable to work at the moment - and they doctors are not sure as of yet when she will be able to return. I would love to give her a little finantial cushion that she can work with - or funds for the new wardrobe that she will eventually need!
