Support Ms. Coker’s Surgeries

Ms. Laurie Coker is preparing for two major life threatening surgeries and with her blessing, I ask for a financial contribution from our community to support her unexpected expenses of the surgeries and recovery.

She has spine surgery on June 8th and brain surgery on June 11th that will put her in the hospital for 1-2 weeks and then in house rehab 2-4 weeks after. They will be removing masses that have caused tremendous pain in her body and complete loss of movement in her leg and use of her foot.

If you don’t personally know “Coker”, she served as an English teacher at Westwood High School for 30 years! Many do know Coker because she was our teacher and continues to be a big advocate and support system for youth in and around Austin. She would be that teacher who would pick you up in the middle of the night if you needed help. She would be the one to offer chaperoning seniors each year on a European trip to celebrate graduation (I went with her in 2005!). She deserves the warmest send off as she heads into her surgeries. Any donation makes a difference in her ability to pay for the unexpected expenses not covered by insurance. Brain surgery trauma is stressful without adding the financial strain so I’m hoping that with your help we can cover her total out of pocket expense of $5600 (that we know of today.) What will the fund afford? This fund raiser will pay for Laurie Coker’s $5600 out of pocket expense for her two surgeries. The fund is directly tied to her checking account and will pay immediate bills for surgeries in June 2021.

Who am I? My name is Hannah. I am her former student and am assisting with the creation / management of the fund on this platform as she undergoes surgeries in a few days.
