Refugee Family of 8 Homeless After Apartment Fire
Donation protected
When Mr. X decided to serve as a translator for US troops in Afghanistan, he knew he was making a dangerous choice but he knew it was the right decision for the future of his beloved country. After US troops pulled out of the country, he, his wife and his 6 children had a target on their back. They were seen as traitors by radicals and survived multiple attempts to murder them. Mr. X entered the Special Immigrant Visa program made available by the US to resettle these military heroes safely in the US. Mr. X and his family were resettled in the US in 2020.
Since coming to the US, Mr. X has struggled to find permanent labor. He attended a job fair put on by Amplio Recruiting and was planning to start a job at a local manufacturing company where he would be paid to receive a forklift certification and hired permanently.
The night before his new job and a new chance at stability would begin, a small fire started at his stove while his wife was cooking dinner. Despite quickly putting out the fire, the sprinkler system in their apartment was set off and completely soaked everything in their apartment.
Unfortunately, his renters insurance had expired a month prior and the apartment complex is asking him to pay $50K in damages. All the while, he’s trying to find a new apartment and replace the bare necessities for his family of 8. Can you help us give him a fresh start to get a down payment on a new apt and get some basic items? He’ll be able to begin working in the next week and get moving in the right direction with your help.
