My name is Eduardo Parra. I have been working as a Healing Artist at Rady Children sHospital San Diego for 8 years. I have also been involved with multiple school districts and organizations integrating arts for intervention, learning, leadership, and culture for over 20 years. I have been using Art, Music, Theater, and Dance to educate and to promote Culture, Tolerance, and Values in the Community.
I love and take pride of my work...
But, one morning, everything changed.
I was at work at the hospital, getting ready to work with the kids when my body collapsed...
I was rushed to the nearest hospital in an ambulance. Luckily for me, the ER was next door.
The blue code team was called and I wondered why there was so much commotion...
Later on, I found out that I was at the point of death...
Doctors found out that I was born without one kidney.
Since my kidney had stopped working, the potassium level in my body shot up to a lethal level.
I was diagnosed with end  stage renal disease which means that I will be unable to work for a long period of time and in dialysis for the rest of my life.
Overnight, everything had changed...
